Camp Counsellor Skills Diploma (DAFA)
You must follow this training to obtain a counsellor job.
You love children and would like to become a counsellor one day? The Camp Counsellor Skills Diploma (DAFA) is a certificate that enables teens aged 15+ who are in their third year of high school to take charge of recreational activities designed for youngsters 5 to 14 years old. The training is aimed at ensuring the safety and quality of the participants’ recreational experience.
This 40-hour theory course is the first step in obtaining the DAFA diploma. Once you have successfully completed this course, you can begin your practical training by working as a volunteer assistant counsellor at the summer 2022 day camp.
The DAFA diploma is awarded upon successful completion of both the theoretical and practical training. Participation in each lesson of the theory course is mandatory. The practical training can be completed during the summer, at the Saint-Lazare day camp or elsewhere depending on the arrangements made by the participant.

Practical training
(offered only to participants who have completed their theoretical training at parc nature les Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare) Available during the summer. The practical training can be realized according to the following options: • Participate in the camp for two 35-hour weeks (consecutive or not) during the summer • Participate in one full 35-hour week + several other separate or consecutive days for a total of hours required for training. • In total, the participant must have completed a minimum of 70 hours of training.
